Nevertheless, bug reports are still being posted.
Update: Zapping the PRAM/VRAM and reapplying the Leopard Graphic update seems to have fixed the problem for me. After the installation, some very strange problems occur: When I boot into OSX, I have to wait for at least 5 minutes or longer, before I can login to my useraccount. Installation went well, it is running without any problems. Lets not start the day grumpy and in a bad mood. So, I thought give Windows 7 a shot on my iMac 20' running Snow Leopard. What is odd infuriating is that the Leopard Graphic update was supposed to fix this problem in machines suffering from this problem prior to the update, not spread it to machines which worked flawlessly. I don't know if this will help in any way, but it is worth a try. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the third time. Restart the computer from the Apple Menu.
Quit Disk Utility and return to the Utility Menu. Click on the First Aid button in the toolbar. Select the indented (usually, Macintosh HD) volume entry from the side list. In order to reset NVRAM/PRAM: Shutdown your Mac, then start it back up while immediately holding the following keys: Command, Option, P and R. Choose Disk Utility and click on the Continue button. I tried an old trick that use to prove useful in the Mac OS 9 days: PRAM reset. Downgrading to 10.5.1 would mean a complete reinstall. It is also worth noting that these freezes occured after installing the Mac OS 10.5.2 update combo (after reparing permissions, etc.) but before installing the Leopard Graphic update. I can NOT start MAC OS from within Windows 10, there is (still) only one partition in Windows Boot Camp (Windows). I could start Windows as well as MAC OS from there. A growing number of other posts in different categories or weblogsare starting to report this problem too. Using Disk Utility/First Aid, I could see that all partitions (BOOT CAMP excluded) were healthy, thanks for that There were 2 partions in Start Up Disk. Lately, a number of people have been complaining of exactly the same issue in Apple's Disscusion board: MacBook Pro Freezes after successfull 10.5.2 update. Reverting to my previous 2Gb didn't solve the problem. I first suspected a hardware problem as I upgraded to 3Gb of RAM the same day, but no. After like 6 hours use, the computer suddenly stops responding. I haven't experienced this since the Mac OS 9 days, or the early 10.0 beta. Hopefully, you will be presented with a boot menu asking you whether you would like to boot in Mac OS or Windows. Continue to hold the Options/Alt key until the mac has fully booted. You're just left out in the cold with the «Press the power button» option. Press and hold the Options key (apple) or Alt key (windows) while simultaneously powering on the mac by pressing on the power button. I'm not talking of spinning beach balls or kernel panics, no. I have never experienced freezes like he ones I am experiencing since the latest update. It is a sad world when you start to loose trust in what use to be a flawless reliable tool. This is what the latest Mac OS 10.5.2 update makes me want to do.
